Water treatment for pools smaller than 3000 litres :

After establishing the pH value, you should disinfect the water. For these types of swimming pools, we have developed a small tablet called Pool Power Mini Quick.

With this tablet, one can easily maintain the correct percentage of chlorine. Each Mini-Quick table provides 1.5 grams of active chlorine per cubic metre (=1000 litres).

To maintain your pool water properly, you will require the following products:
  • Pool Power Mini Quick disinfectant tablets
  • Pool Power pH-min (and sometimes, pH-plus)
  • Pool Power Anti-algae
  • One test kit or test strips for measuring active chlorine and the pH value

Nieuw:
Pool Power is now available in large and small starter kits, each with a handy dosage float. The table below shows the quantities of disinfectant tablets needed the first time you fill the pool. Never throw the tablets directly into the water! This could cause white spots to form on the pool’s lining. Use the dosage float or dissolve tablets in a quantity of water and spread the solution across the surface of the water.

How much chlorine should be added the first time?

Volume of the swimming pool When filling the pool the first time Afterwards
1 m3 (1000 litres) 3 tablets Maintain chlorine percentage
between 2 and 5 mg/l
2 m3 (2000 litres) 6 tablets Maintain chlorine percentage
between 2 and 5 mg/l
3 m3 (3000 litres) 9 tablets Maintain chlorine percentage
between 2 and 5 mg/l

The initial dosage per cubic metre is therefore three tablets (= 4,5 mg/l active chlorine). Normal maintenance can then start after three days. The chlorine percentage does not remain stable. The active chlorine gradually loses its effectiveness in the water. The amount of chlorine required will depend totally on the circumstances. The following factors play an important role in this:
  • Temperature (more chlorine is needed with warmer temperatures)
  • Pool usage (the amount of contamination in the pool water)
  • UV radiation from the sun
It is not possible to recommend a daily dosage of chlorine. This will depend on the aforementioned circumstances. The chlorine percentage should remain between 2 and 5 mg/l. You should take regular measurements and add sufficient chlorine to keep the active chlorine percentage between 2 and 5 mg/l. Each Mini-Quick tablet adds 1.5 grams of active chlorine per cubic metre (=1000 litres).

Algae control

Algae growth in swimming pools has a variety of causes. After a rain shower, algae sometimes appear in the water as a green film. There are also algae with colours other than green. You can prevent and control algae growth with Pool Power Anti-algae.

Note: Do not add too much. Stick to the prescribed dosage! Over-dosages can cause various problems. You should compare these products to medicines, which you would not take in double doses. When algae is present (green water), apply a ‘shock treatment’ using Pool Power Mini Quick.
